The Duchess of Cornwall has been named the first Patron of The Mirabel Centre, Nigeria's first Sexual Assault Referral Centre, providing support to survivors of sexual violence.
Camilla has campaigned against sexual assault for several years, 'aiming to break the taboo around the subject', and commented 'I am delighted to become Patron of the Mirabel Centre in Lagos. It is a truly trailblazing organisation, supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault as they seek healing and justice. Their vital work means that women need no longer suffer in silence and I am deeply grateful to all Mirabel’s wonderful staff and volunteers'.
